HealthCare Interactive Unveils Rebranded CARES® Programs, Elevating Dementia Care Through its Evidence-Based 5-Step Method

Minneapolis, April 17, 2024 – HealthCare Interactive, Inc., a leading provider of person-centered, dementia care training and certification programs for long-term care facilities, hospital staff, and families, proudly announces the rebranding of its primary CARES® programs. The rebranding initiative reflects the company’s commitment to emphasizing the distinctive features of its evidence-based, 5-step method of care, known as the CARES® Approach, and its importance in reducing the off-label use of antipsychotics.

Formerly known as CARES® Dementia Basics™, CARES® Dementia-Friendly Hospitals™, and CARES® Dementia Care for Families™, these programs have been rebranded CARES® Dementia 5-Step Method™, CARES® Dementia 5-Step Method for Hospitals™, and CARES® Dementia 5-Step Method for Families™, respectively. This strategic rebranding underscores the core methodology that sets these programs apart in the field of dementia care, the evidence-based CARES® dementia 5-step method.

In addition to its primary CARES® programs, HCI has also rebranded its CARES® Dementia Advanced Care™ program to provide a more accurate reflection of its safety-focused content. The new program title, CARES® Dementia Safety Topics™, aligns with the program’s emphasis on critical safety considerations for people living with dementia such as food and fluid intake, minimizing falls, rethinking wandering, minimizing and eliminating restraints, and recognizing and managing pain.

According to HealthCare Interactive CEO and Founder, John V. Hobday, “One of the distinguishing features of our CARES® training and certification programs for long-term care staff, hospital staff, and families is the integration of real-life video content (no actors), with a focus on authenticity by featuring genuine caregiving scenarios rather than staged performances. Each program includes video vignettes of both a “common approach” and the 5-step “CARES Approach” illustrating the tangible impact of implementing the CARES dementia 5-step method in caregiving interactions.” According to Hobday, “So many dementia care training programs tell you about the disease, the signs to watch out for, and the behavior you will see. Very few teach you what to do differently to help reduce behavior and provide better, safer care. The CARES® dementia 5-step method does just that.”

CARES® core content, the quality of each program, and CARES® dementia certification remain unchanged, ensuring continuity and reliability for clients and their staff. As such, HCI remains steadfast in its commitment to empower caregivers with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver compassionate and effective dementia care, setting new standards of excellence in the healthcare industry.
