HCI Launches the CARES® Dementia Specialist™ (C.D.S.) Credentialing Program

MINNEAPOLIS, MN—February 7, 2017. HealthCare Interactive is pleased to announce the release of its new CARES® Dementia Specialist™ (C.D.S.) Credentialing Program. The C.D.S. credential is a way to be recognized for completing the entire CARES online dementia care training curriculum (6 courses/32 hours) and passing the C.D.S. credentialing exam.

The CARES Dementia Specialist (C.D.S.) credentialing process includes completing all 6 CARES online training programs, passing the C.D.S. credentialing exam, submitting your documentation for approval, getting approved by the HCI review team, receiving an official recognition package in the mail, and being placed on our International C.D.S. Registry. The CARES® Approach, taught as part of each CARES online training, is HCI’s trademarked total approach to care that can be used in any situation, with any person with Alzheimer’s or dementia, and at any level of decline. The CARES Approach is unique to this program and not found in any other dementia training program available.

According to John Hobday, CEO and Founder of HealthCare Interactive, “Day in and day out around the country, care professionals face difficult challenges with dementia care. Unfortunately, most organizations lack a core team of dementia specialists to help guide other staff members through these challenges. This is why we created the C.D.S. credentialing program. By going through our entire CARES curriculum, you truly become a specialist in not only how to care for someone living with Alzheimer’s disease or other form of dementia, but also how to relate to someone living with the disease. This relational shift in how to approach someone with Alzheimer’s is critical for the person’s care.”

Emily E. Gibson, C.D.S., a Life Enrichment Director in Menominee, Wisconsin says, “The CARES Dementia Specialist online dementia care training gave me realistic tools and approaches to use—a true ‘toolbox.’ I now feel confident in how to problem solve when working with someone who has dementia!” For additional information about the C.D.S. credential, or to watch a 3-minute informational video, visit www.hcinteractive.com/CDS.
