ST. PAUL, MN—November 24, 2005. HealthCare Interactive, Inc’s (HCI) announces the launch of its CARES® training program in conjunction with the national office of the Alzheimer’s Association. The training program serves as the online training portion of the Alzheimer’s Association multi-year Campaign for Quality Residential Care.
The CARES program is an innovative, web-based learning program for direct care workers and other staff who care for those with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. This training program is unique from other dementia training programs because it specifically incorporates and teaches the CARES approach, a method of providing care for residents with dementia: Connect with the Resident, Assess Behavior, Respond Appropriately, Evaluate What Works, Share with the Team.
Nursing homes and assisted living facilities from around the country can now access this quality training program 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from any Internet-connected computer. Facility administrators purchase access to the training on a daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly basis, and then receive an online user name and password. Pricing plans range from $9.95 per day to $799 per year for all staff members at any single physical nursing home or assisted living facility location. The program offers facilities the ability to offer the same quality training to night, weekend, and part-time staff members that is typically only available to full-time, day-shift employees.

HCI’s commitment to quality training is to never use actors to portray caregivers, family members, or even residents with dementia.
