HCI Announces Fifth Alzheimer’s Association essentiALZ® Certification for CARES® End-of-Life Dementia Care Training Program

MINNEAPOLIS, MN- June 1, 2015.

HealthCare Interactive® (HCI) is pleased to announce the release of the fifth Alzheimer’s Association essentiALZ certification: essentiALZ Plus End-of-Life Dementia Care certification. Individuals who complete the CARES End-of-Life online training training will now have the opportunity to take the essentiALZ Plus certification exam. CARES EOL is suitable for a variety of people who assist in caregiving for an individual with dementia. The strategies used within the program center around the CARES Approach, which is a person-centered care approach that is easy to learn and helpful in caring for those at the end of life. “CARES End-of-Life Dementia Care is an excellent and person-centered approach for end-of-life care for people with dementia,” says HCI’s CEO and Founder, John Hobday, “but what it really is is an excellent end-of-life program for anyone. We encourage anyone in the care industry to consider getting training with CARES EOL and then going on to take the Alzheimer’s Association essentiALZ Plus certification exam for end-of-life care. This is an excellent way to learn about the end-of-life process, get new ideas for end-of-life approaches, especially for people with dementia, and demonstrate your knowledge with the Alzheimer’s Association certification exam.”

About CARES End-of-Life Dementia Care

The CARES® End-of-Life Dementia Care™ Online Training Program helps the care team—including the family—understand what is happening to a person with dementia at the end of life. The CARES® Approach equips caregivers with tools and strategies to approach end-of-life care with confidence. The training covers topics such as how to provide comfort care and support to the person with dementia, as well as to family members and other individuals close to him or her. Explore these and other topics through video, audio, and interactive exercises featuring real families, real caregivers, and real dementia-care experts (no actors).

This program has 5 modules (5 hours). The modules include:

  1. Introduction to End-of-Life Dementia Care
  2. The CARES® Approach
  3. Decision Making at the End of Life
  4. Comfort Care
  5. Emotional and Spiritual Support
